Easy Baroque

This is not a book for a beginner. But with some skill it is not that tough. There is a nice variety of music of that time period, and the CD is true to the print. Love the book

My favorite tab book so far, but came with a busted CD recording.

**ONLY 4 STARS BECAUSE MY SPECIFIC COPY HAD A FLAWED AUDIO CD SENT WITH IT AND I'M SURE THAT IS VERY RARE**
Okay down to the meat of it.
This book is great. I was delivered today and it is already my favorite of the 8 or so classical guitar music/tab books that I have.
General Notes:
-I've been teaching myself classical guitar for about 6 months now without particularly feverish dedication to practice to say the least. Although some of the pieces seem daunting to me at my current skill level, very few seem insurmountable and none of these pieces come off as too easy.
-The length of the selections is great. Short but not too shot. Long pieces can be a turn off for me as a new guitarist, since I am more interested in learning and perfecting a variety rather than dedicating all of my time to a single piece thereby limiting my exposure to different skills required to play different pieces. (Think sliding into a barre chord vs. transitioning from chord to chord vs. complicated (for me) single note transitions. If you only practice a long piece that might lack one of these elements, it'll leave a hole in your development.)
Pros:
-Selection: Like I said, the selection is phenomenal for learning. The selection is also beautiful. From Bach's Menuett in A Minor, to Handel's Sarabande, to Corelli's Largo, the mathematic and hauntingly beautiful spirit of baroque is captured in manageable pieces.
-Notation: I found the fingering listed to be accessible and helpful. The notes on the tremolos were particularly helpful.
-Build and print: The print size is easy to read but not too big and the spine isn't too deep as to prevent easily keeping a page open without having to bend the book backwards.
-Music CD Performance: The performances are of a high quality, a manageable tempo, and all around great for going back and studying how a particularly complex bit is supposed to sound.
Cons:
-Music CD Skipping: My copy came with a CD that was fine from about track 1-30, but had horrible and constant skips after. I tried using multiple devices with the same result. This was likely a rare flaw however and even without the CD the book is well worth the purchase.
Conclusion: If you're a beginning classical guitarist with an interest in Baroque, you need to purchase this immediately.

I can't wait to learn them all!! Great song selections, and arrangements!! Glad I picked this one up. Now I just need to buy a classical guitar to compliment the songs.
