Review
A worthwhile read. (Author's Choice Book Reviews 20040603)
The beautiful illustrations make praying seem as natural as breathing. (Christian Observer 20040603)
"This book recognizes that prayers come in all shapes and sizes, challenging the one-size-fits-all format. It encourages children to embrace an ongoing dialogue with God throughout their day as they find themselves in challenging or happy circumstances...It's filled with colorful illustrations and situations which children can relate to, and more importantly respond to, with simple prayers. . . . This is a wonderful book, with a powerful lesson." (Cynthia Washington The Northwest Book Reviewer 20051101)

"This is the book I have been looking for! -- a book about prayer for children that not only helps them to learn, but to enjoy while learning. The pictures are fun. The words are those of children, and as an extra bonus, the final page includes words for parents: talking it over, taking action, and just for fun. I recommend this book with great joy." (Church Educator 20041201)
St. John's bright illustrations and gift of expression make this book a treasure that can be used by young and old alike (both in age and in faith) to understand the concept of having a conversation with God. And when we've grasped that, we will know how to pray. (Valerie Coulman Christian Week 20050601)
"Children will learn, along with Erik, to call on God when they need help. God hears our prayers and directs our steps, even when we're afraid. They will learn that praying is simply talking to God in a variety of ways and situations, and that God is there for them even when they have doubts. Children will love the bright, cheerful illustrations where the cartoon-like people and animals have big, round eyes and faces. The pictures convey a strong sense of action and emotion complementing the beautiful storyline and its underlining message. The last page of the book has some great ideas for discussions, praying together, and activities to enhance story time. This book would make a terrific addition to any public or personal library." (Audra Silva Christian Library Journal 20060101)

A wonderful story for families to share
By Lisa M. Hendey
Am I Praying by Jeannie St. John Taylor features a day with little Erik, whose day starts off bleak when he can't find the right T-shirt and he forgets his lunch for the zoo field trip. And things only get worse! But Erik remembers to turn to God in prayer as he encounters tough times during his day, and finds that God sends real help for his real problems.
Am I Praying stars little Erik, an active and likeable character we can all relate to as we face the challenges of day to day life. Erik's story will inspire readers, young and old, to remember to turn to God in prayer when the going gets rough. The book's final page offers tips for parents on reading and discussing the book with young readers, and a fun idea for a follow up craft project.

A sweet story about the power of prayer
By MyParenTime.com
Everyone in the world has different beliefs. For those who pray, they might say their prayers out loud; say them silently; or write them down on paper. Whichever they do, there is no right or wrong way to pray.
In the book, "Am I Praying?" a little boy finds himself talking to God throughout his day. During each of his daily activities, he asks if his many different ways of communicating with God are indeed praying.
MyParenTime.com recommends this book -- it's a sweet, light story with colorful, comical illustrations. This story will teach children what it means to pray; and it also opens up discussions about God, different beliefs, and the power of prayer.

Jeannie Has Done It Again
By Connie Ellis
This book is great to show children that praying doesn't always mean before a meal or at bedtime. It is a great way to show children (and adults too) that one can keep a dialog with God all through out the day and that He is always available to hear our prayers.
I have several of Jeannie Taylor books. She has a sweet way to teach us all that God is with us always. I love this book and so do my children. Good job Jeannie. Can't wait for your other books to come out.
