About the Author
H.A. Ironside (1876-1951) was an internationally acclaimed Bible teacher and preacher, as well as the author of more than sixty books. His writings include addresses or commentaries on the entire New Testament, all of the Old Testament prophetic books, and a great many volumes on other biblical topics. For eighteen of his fifty years of ministry, Dr. Ironside was pastor of the historic Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, Ill.

A theologically sound interpretation with applications.

Ironside is marvelous in his commentary on Daniel. His interpretation of prophecies are very sound as well as his interpretation of the whole book. The part of the book that is amazing is the personal application which he draws from the very rich pages of the book of Daniel. A masterpiece in biblical interpretation.

A great commentary on the book of Daniel

Overall it helped me understand the book of Daniel better than just about any commentary I've read. There were a few things that I (and other commentators that I trust) disagree with his interpretation of, but considering how long ago it was written, I still think it is a relevant and necessary commentary to read for any Christian seeking to understand the book of Daniel better. I've started slowly getting all of Ironside's commentaries.

Donald L. Baars retired from the Kansas Geological Survey with forty years’ experience as a geologist and guide on the Colorado Plateau, and he is the author of several books on the geology of the area. He resides in Lawrence, Kansas.

Good luck.

This book contains lots of information about the geology of the Colorado Plateau... the problem is that it's incredibly difficult to read, even for folks like me who studied geology in the Southwest. For one thing, it provides little overview information, which would help introduce key concepts and tie them together. (Of course, tying key concepts together might be easier if the author were comfortable with plate tectonics as a driver for the structural features of the region... but that's another story). The fact that this book is chock full of mistakes--for example, referencing figures that don't actually exist--doesn't help, either. In fact, I generally found the illustrations to be more confusing than helpful. They never appear in places where they'd actually help you understand the text, and when they do appear, they're often confusing because they lack labels... or, worse yet, they are not discussed at all. It's too bad; with a good editorial and peer review, this book could have been a worthwhile reference. I definitely would not recommend it for the lay audience.

Beautifully illustrated by the author, this well-documented book is based on six years of fieldwork with Navajo chanters and on the author's twenty-year friendship with a Navajo family. I wasn't excited to read this at first (it was a book for an Anthropology book report) but I ended up really liking it. Griffin-Pierce is able to give a good perspective on the Navajo life and rituals without sounding too 'sciency'. Her writing is easy to read and she does a good job describing the process and art without using pictures (Navajo didn't want her to photograph the paintings). I would definitely recommend this book. I have since gained more interest in the subject and want to continue reading!

Good book, not for beginners

I have been playing for about 10 months and enjoy this book, but most of it's too hard for me. The advantages - LOTS of music, a good variety, not just classical like in some books (though there's nothing remotely modern in here - no pop or rock or anything). But as one reviewer said, it's not "easy", just easier, and it's not for beginners. For example, most beginner books have most or all the music in C, F or G or their minors (either no or one sharp or flat), in this book, a lot is in keys with 2 or more sharps or flats. The two isn't so bad, but the "or more" is a challenge. Also, the music requires a lot of playing both hands simultaneously (as opposed to beginner books that have more playing mainly chords and close half or quarter notes on the left hand, so that the amount of simultaneous movement is reduced).

A Good Choice For Some of Us

This book has very good arrangements for the late beginner to early-intermediate level pianist, especially adults who play for enjoyment and have little aspiration (or, like me, too little talent) to become serious musicians. About 75 percent of the pieces are classical. Serious, developing, musicians should probably look elsewhere, as most of the arrangements here are simplified and/or condensed.

I bought this book and EASY PIANO CLASSICS (both in the same series) at the same time, and a comparison may be helpful for some of you. I like this one (EASY PIANO FAVORITES) more and have been using it a lot more than the other book. On average, EASY FAVORITES is somewhat easier than EASY CLASSICS. Oddly enough, the print size of the scores in EASY CLASSICS is ridiculously large, while it is just about ideal (for me) in EASY FAVORITES. This helps minimize the need for page turning in EASY FAVORITES, whereas EASY CLASSICS often requires it. The pieces in these two "BIG EASY" books overlap by around 20 percent--i.e., several of the most famous pieces appear in both books. However, where overlap occurs, the arrangements are often quite different and often in different keys. EASY FAVORITES actually includes a greater variety of keys (which for me is a plus), even though it typically has somewhat easier arrangements. Get both of these books if you can afford to, but I'd consider this one first.

What a nice surprise to open a book with almost 150 of the world's best classics in easy to play arrangements! This book contains 237 pages of music from the early composers such as Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Chopin, Grieg, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, etc. It also contains music of such great composers like John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin, George M. Cohan, Gonoud, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, etc . This book is beautifully bound with a sturdy, plastic comb making the pages easy to turn on the piano. The pages are quite legible and bright. This book is highly recommended for all ages. My students love it. It is a spectacular collection and quite a bargain for this amount of repertoire.
