About the Author
David M. Hoffeditz (PhD, University of Aberdeen) has taught beginning and intermediate Greek at the collegiate level and currently serves on the pastoral staff of a church in Springfield, Ohio.
J. Michael Thigpen is completing his PhD in Hebraic and Cognate Studies at Hebrew Union College. He has taught Hebrew on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

misleading

The back of the product claims that it has over 2,100 flashcards. Apparently there method of counting consists of them adding all the words from separate grammar books even if words repeat between books. So in reality the 2,100 words are not different words as I assumed. Thus many of the more rare words which occur less than 50 times will not be found in this program.

Not the Most User-Friendly, but Still Great

The files all come on a DVD organized by the various Hebrew grammar textbooks supported. So there's a folder for Ross, Pratico & Van Pelt, Fuller & Choi, and Seow. Within each one of these there are three types of files. First there are basic audio files (mp3 format) for each chapter. Then there are corresponding images (jpg format) to match those audio files. Finally there are video files (m4v format). So if your mp3 player doesn't play m4v files, you're stuck trying to manually sync the image files with the audio files--a most tedious task. Also, I have an iPod Nano (3rd Gen.) and the video files that came with the DVD didn't work properly: the audio and video were out of sync. Luckily, Kregel sent me a new DVD in a couple of days with updated files. I don't know if these updated files work with the newest Nano (4th Gen.)
All-in-all, I've been using the video files just fine both on my iPod and on my PC (running Vista). There are video files for whole chapters as well as individual videos for each word. This is great because it allows me quickly review whole chapters while also giving me freedom to make custom vocab lists for tricky words. The best part of the video is that I am able to connect the sound of the word with its spelling and pointing--no easy task with Hebrew.
So in the end, if you really want some visual help in learning your Hebrew vocab and you have a video-capable mp3 player, iVocab is great. If you're not interested in video vocabulary, you may want to check out Old Testament Hebrew Vocabulary: Learn on the Go before you buy. In the end, I give it four stars because it's worked great with my mp3 player. But I'd love to see them come out with a 2.0 version that eliminates all the manual organizing required by those without an iPod video.

Perfect for Mac Users

I am a beginning Biblical Hebrew student and wanted to have a variety of ways to tackle my Hebrew. We use Seow and all I had to do was drag the "Seow" folder to Itunes and I can sort, make custom play lists, listen in my car, or on my iPod. There are a multitude of tracks available. There are tracks for each chapter and each word.
I highly recommend.
